Equation Runner is your usual fun and exciting running video game, but what’s different is that your child will actually learn from this educational program while enjoying themselves! There are a total of 3 “worlds,” with 200 levels per each. The levels start out to be simple and straightforward, but as the game progresses, the difficulty begins to increase, going from basic 5th grade math all the way to Algebra 2 and a little bit of trigonometry (8th grade math).
There are a total of 600 levels, each testing the player’s familiarity and accuracy at answering the problems. If they’ve answered correctly, they get a power booster, but if they’re incorrect, they will, unfortunately, need to restart the level but are also given a thorough explanation of the missed problem. Once they’ve reached the final level, there is a printable certificate and a virtual treasure chest. Moreover, realizing it or not, they will have already mastered a good amount of middle school math including Algebra 1 & 2!

OUR THEME
What is a theme? Its formal definition is the central topic/subject or message of a game or literary work. For us, the theme is what a video game is built around and what it’s conveying to the players. We value our customers’ time and energy, so we have programmed Equation Runner to be one of the most effective and entertaining educational games in 2020.
Even though this is an educational platform, we take your child’s interests and love for gaming into consideration. In the context of our theme, Equation Runner is built around math skills and obstacle courses, which are two main components in our goal of learning with a positive attitude. We’re trying to convey the message that anyone, as long as they put in the time and effort, can master these mathematical concepts.
OUR CHARACTERS
In every movie, book, story, or game, one of the most important aspects is the characters. Characters help to shape the entire meaning of the story or game because they give a sense of what its purpose or theme is. In most typical video games, there are pre-assigned avatars that players can choose from and they may or may not change as they pass more levels. However, we, as the producing team of Equation Runner, have made sure that this game is not only educational, but it also allows teens (or the players) to freely express themselves.
In Equation Runner, the players can customize their avatar(s) to look like themselves, their friends, family members, etc. From the hair color to what shoes their character(s) wear, it’s all customizable. It’s all very lenient, so the player can freely use their imagination to create their video gaming world and character(s). One main purpose of why we chose to do this is because if players think that their avatar really is them, then it serves as a powerful motivation to push themselves to their best.
OUR SUBJECT: Why Math?
Mathematics is the methodical application of matter because math makes people more methodical or systematic, and keeps our lives orderly and free of chaos. The power of reasoning, creativity, abstract or spatial thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving ability and even effective communication skills are all results of learning math.
Mathematics is the start of, literally, everything! Without it, the world wouldn’t be able to move forward or even function. Math is used everywhere in our daily lives; a cook or a farmer, a carpenter or a mechanic, a shopkeeper or a doctor, an engineer or a scientist, a musician or a magician, everyone needs mathematics. (Even insects use mathematics in their everyday life for existence!)
Therefore, we chose Equation Runner as a math based video game to teach kids that learning can definitely be enjoyable.
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to successfully have the player master their math skills ranging from middle school calculation problems all the way to Algebra 2/Trig critical thinking word problems.
We are mainly targeting middle school students who are looking for an entertaining game to pass time but also to master their math skills. There aren’t any specific requirements for this game; as long as your child has an interest in math or gaming, we highly recommend this program!
